The one mistake which I have seen having long term effect is using IDE from start because of that Java developers don’t know much about PATH and Classpath and struggle to solve classpath related problems like NoClassDefFoundError and ClassNotFoundException. While learning IDE is important but not something you should right from the beginning of your Java journey.
